Beautiful 1929 American Realism portrait of a young girl, in its original gold-toned Art Nouveau frame. A warm, serene, and highly decorative vintage artwork.
This large 1929 portrait is a charming example of early 20th-century American Realism. Painted in oil on canvas, it depicts a young girl seated in a peaceful outdoor setting, rendered with soft natural light and a calm, introspective expression. The gentle color palette and detailed brushwork give the painting a warm, timeless presence.
The artwork is presented in its original gold-toned Art Nouveau frame, featuring molded decorative details typical of the late 1920s. The frame is beautifully decorative and complements the portrait well. Some small marks and age-related wear are present (see photos), but both painting and frame remain in good vintage condition overall.
This is a piece with real character — a well-executed portrait, a period frame, and a serene subject that fits naturally into both traditional and eclectic interiors.

ABOUT THE ARTIST — PERCY W. MUNCY
Percy W. Muncy was an American portrait painter active during the first half of the 20th century. Although not widely documented today, his work has appeared at auction several times, and early in his career he received recognition for his talent.
A newspaper clipping from his youth found on the internet describes him as:
“The Farmer Boy Artist of North Babylon… who has won distinctive honors in having his works hung in the National Academy of Design in the Vanderbilt Gallery. His specialty is portrait painting.”
This historical note aligns with the technical confidence visible in this 1929 portrait, showing a steady hand and a clear realist approach.
