About the Artist:
Svend Aage Tauscher was a Danish painter known for his raw and expressive works. Born in Bredballe, Denmark, he lived and worked in Copenhagen, Vejle, Horsens, and Randers, often painting with any materials available to him. His distinctive style reflects a deeply personal and unfiltered artistic vision.
He exhibited with “The Naivists” at Den Frie in Copenhagen (1956) and was honored with a retrospective at Galleri Munch Christensen (1970). Tauscher was also a notable figure in Copenhagen’s bohemian scene, earning the nickname “The King of the Minefield” in reference to his presence in the city’s artistic and social circles. His legacy endures, commemorated by a bronze bust at Nikolaj Plads, Copenhagen (1987).
