About the Artist: Hjalmar Larsson (1881-1960)
Hjalmar Larsson was born in Stoby, Sweden, in 1881 and later settled in Husie in 1926, where he remained until his death in 1960. He was deeply connected to the landscapes of Malmö and its surrounding areas, including Husie, S. Sallerup, Mölleberga, Skabersjö, and the beech forests of Torup, which frequently inspired his work.
Larsson studied art in Norway, Denmark, Germany, and Switzerland, refining his skills and developing his distinctive impressionist style. His artistic journey included exhibitions in both Copenhagen and Malmö, where his works were well-received.
Larsson’s oeuvre primarily consists of landscapes, portraits, street scenes, and floral compositions, all characterized by his vibrant use of color and expressive brushwork. His impressionist approach captured the essence of the Swedish countryside, making his art both evocative and timeless. His deep love for nature and the local scenery is evident in his paintings, which continue to resonate with art lovers today.
